Good morning
I have the greatest husband in the world. He brings me breakfast in bed while I'm nursing complete with fresh strawberry studded shredded wheat, oj, a half-cup of coffee with fancy flavored creamer, a tall glass of ice water, and a banana, "just in case." Then he changes the diaper blow out while I get cleaned up.

Ten things
that I'm grateful for:
1. The incredible suport of friends and family
2. My husband's tears as his son emerged
3. Helping to catch my own child
4. Brian telling me (voice cracking): "It's a boy!"
5. Hearing Bennett cry
6. Coming home after 24 hours
7. Nesting in the bed
8. Milk rings on the sheets as my milk came in
9. The scent of my sleeping babe
10. Watching the two men in my life napping together

What you all have been waiting for
As requested by our favorite redheads, here is some baby info. Bennett Anthony Krygowski was born at 11:25 am this morning. He weighs in at 7 lbs 11oz and 20.25 inches long. 10 fingers and 10 toes and a healthy set of lungs. Everyone is doing well and in great spirits. Below you will see a picture of baby, baby and mama, and if you don't get bored there is a picture of baby and me.

Apples and peanut butter
...taste really good, especially at 1am. Only tonight when I crawled/heaved/lumbered back to bed, finally got comfortable and settled in, I heard a little pop, like the sound my bad knees or hip make. Only it seems it was my water that popped, not a rogue joint.
Well, back to bed. I've called the Dr, the surges are building but aren't strong yet. No need to wake up the family with the "Phone Call" until things pick up a bit more. Especially at this ungodly hour. Let folks sleep a little more.
I knew this would happen now that the house is messy from our baseboard installation job this weekend and the car is packed full of stuff to drop off/exchange, and I had a nice list of stuff to do tomorrow that included putting up some dinners. Okay, someone's going to have to make veggie enchiladas.
The babe is on his or her way. Wish us peace and a gentle beginning.

June's gift (well, May's replacement)
The Hungry Caterpillar quilt has been put on hold. There was some sorry drama surrounding the last part of the top construction (mainly me breaking down in the middle of a quilt store after finding out they had sold out of ALL the Eric Carle fabric they had in, then breaking down again after finding out it's been sold out everywhere and won't be reprinted by the manufacturer until mid-late June. Why oh WHY did this project go thru so many re-designs??).
Well, I ended up moving on and starting over.
I had some cute fruit flannel left over from making wipes, so I decided to keep working with applique and made fruit blocks out of some cool fabric on white flannel. I used some of that wonder-under iron on stuff to adhere the fabric, then zig-zag stitched around the shapes. It didn't take long to put together (I kept the pattern super-simple after all the headache of the Caterpillar quilt).
I ended up not using batting. The weight of the flannel and the weight of the super-soft chenille fabric I used as the backing seemed like it would be enough. It's going to be summer after all and if this little babe is anything like his papa, his or her internal furnace will keep things toasty enough.
I also used satin blanket binding for the first time. What a pain to work with. I'll probably go back to making my own for the next one. So, here's the final gift for the new babe. Now if only these intermittent contractions would get organized enough, we'd be in business for labor and on our way to finally meeting this little niblet!
